This month’s spotlight features APM Gas Power Superintendent, Lucas Coleman! Lucas was led to the industry through Welding School. The Millwrights were looking for welders and his teacher selected him and a couple others to take a weld test at the hall on a Friday. Lucas passed the test and started work on Monday! His Grandpa was a Union Millwright in Detroit for Ford and when Lucas asked his Dad what a millwright was, he would always say “a jack of all trades.” He began working with APM in 2016, totaling 7 years to date! This outage stemmed from an emergency service call for their assistance in the complete overhaul of two hydro generators, which includes disassembly, rewind, and reassembly. Even while accumulating over 15,300 manhours and counting, the APM Renewables team maintains a 100% safety and quality!

Read MoreLast summer, the LDC hosted a 3-week Kaizen event from June 6th to June 24th, 2022. Through this Kaizen, the Gas Power division achieved success in creating D11 valve stands and a table design prototype! They were able to borrow a valve from the GE Houston Learning Center in addition to the D11 from our APM LDC and utilized the LDC’s large shop as a space for everyone to set up and collaborate.
