On September 16th, APM Gas Power traveled to Maryland for an Outage. The crew was assigned a task that the division had never executed before in the U.S. – a Rotor In Major Inspection on a 7EA Unit. With new obstacles ahead, the team was prepared for the challenge.

Read MoreIn March of 2024, a Gas Power team (along with a specialized Steam crew) traveled to Lake Whitney, Texas to conduct an outage at Calpine Bosque. The scope of the job entailed a hot gas path, rotor out, and generator inspections on two gas turbines as well as a steam turbine major with multiple upgrades. Led by APM Superintendents Andrew Sims, Chester Manymules, and Kolt Carden, the 35-man crew excelled with the tasks at hand.

Led by Superintendents Jon Barlow and Jason Reese, the crew underwent a 21,000-hour job which comprised of a Turbine Major, Exhaust Frame Change Out, Shell Alignments, Generator Major with a Field Swap, and 60 critical lifts. Of the 60 lifts, three involved the Generator Field, while six involved the Turbine Rotors.
Read MoreAt Entergy Little Gypsy station in Montz, Louisiana, Steam Fossil performed a HP/IP disassembly from December 1st through December 19th, 2022. They then remobilized on January 3rd, 2023 for the HP/IP Major/Outer Shell Repair and reassembly and a generator rewind. After demobilizing on July 7th, the team revisited the site for the last time on October 4th to finish the generator reassembly and concluded the job scope on November 3, 2023. Throughout the multiple remobilizations, Steam Fossil completed over 45,000 manhours with ZERO recordable injuries or quality events!

The Vineyard Wind Project is the 1st offshore wind energy project undertaken in the United States, and APM Renewables is supporting this endeavor every step of the way! Since the start of this ongoing project on August 6th, 2023, APM Renewables has accumulated 9,942 manhours with zero recordable issues, first aid, or quality events, and they continue to deliver excellence while onsite to this present day.
Read MoreIn November of 2023, APM Gas Power travelled to Steens, Mississippi for a three-week-long outage at Caledonia. We were thoughtful about selecting the right crew for our Caledonia customer to ensure their needs were met. The Operations Division Leader, Jeremy Trapp, had this to say on the matter, “I started with sourcing available crews with TVA training and hand-picked the craft with the highest ratings to ensure the success of job.” A total of 20 APM craftspeople were selected for this assignment, divided into day and night crews containing one Superintendent and eight millwrights. The final two were delegated to an alternative scope.

Read MoreAPM Renewables mobilized on August 4, 2022, for the Boott Hydro jobsite in Lowell, Massachusetts where they remain active on site. This outage stemmed from an emergency service call for their assistance in the complete overhaul of two hydro generators, which includes disassembly, rewind, and reassembly. Even while accumulating over 15,300 manhours and counting, the APM Renewables team maintains a 100% safety and quality!

Read MoreLast summer, the LDC hosted a 3-week Kaizen event from June 6th to June 24th, 2022. Through this Kaizen, the Gas Power division achieved success in creating D11 valve stands and a table design prototype! They were able to borrow a valve from the GE Houston Learning Center in addition to the D11 from our APM LDC and utilized the LDC’s large shop as a space for everyone to set up and collaborate.
