Get the Buzz... | APM 2024 Gas Job of the Year Goes to ... Front Range Power!

We are excited to announce that the 2024 APM Gas Job of the Year is ... Front Range Power! From September 6 to November 6, 2024, the Gas team tackled a 7FA Major + Auxiliaries with 7FH2 Major and Rewind job scope. The team did such a phenomenal job that they were nominated and chosen as the Job of the Year for the Gas Division in 2024!

This job stood out because of its large project scope and the positive customer relationship. With majors on the GT and Gen, a Gen rewind, and full list of auxiliary work scopes, this outage had multiple work areas to cover. Despite the challenges presented with an expansive work scope, the crew kept an unwavering focus on safety and quality. This tenacity, in addition to a long history of previous jobs on this site, developed a great relationship with the customer, who treats the crew with respect and dignity that created a welcoming atmosphere onsite.

The long-standing relationship with the customer and the technical direction of Jason Dixon made it so that FieldCore, APM, and the site worked as a team. Every safety meeting had all parties involved, creating a very dynamic environment on site. This “buy in” from all parties created a mutual investment in success.

A key takeaway learned on this outage was the importance of maintaining a questioning attitude and remembering that there is no such thing as a dumb question. From big questions to small questions, a questioning attitude drives the team towards success at safety and quality.

The Life Saving Rules also contributed to ensuring safety and success onsite. The common-sense tenet of “We start work only when its safe and stop work when it’s not” became almost a mantra on site. You could see the impact of the Life Saving Rules all over this job. From “Assess, Prevent, and Protect” when working at height on the GT to controlling ignition sources and eliminating fire and explosion risks while performing hot work.

We’d like to recognize everyone on the crew for your outstanding performance at Colorado Springs Front Range Power. Thank you to the APM Superintendents, James Clough and Andrew Leffingwell, for leading the outage to success, and thank you to the entire team listed below for reflecting the APM values of safety, quality, and excellence!
