Get the Buzz ... APM Steam Fossil Overcame Challenges Through Coordination and Vigilance at Little Gypsy Station Louisiana

At Entergy Little Gypsy station in Montz, Louisiana, Steam Fossil performed a HP/IP disassembly from December 1st through December 19th, 2022. They then remobilized on January 3rd, 2023 for the HP/IP Major/Outer Shell Repair and reassembly and a generator rewind. After demobilizing on July 7th, the team revisited the site for the last time on October 4th to finish the generator reassembly and concluded the job scope on November 3, 2023. Throughout the multiple remobilizations, Steam Fossil completed over 45,000 manhours with ZERO recordable injuries or quality events!

In November of 2023, APM Gas Power travelled to Steens, Mississippi for a three-week-long outage at Caledonia. We were thoughtful about selecting the right crew for our Caledonia customer to ensure their needs were met. The Operations Division Leader, Jeremy Trapp, had this to say on the matter, “I started with sourcing available crews with TVA training and hand-picked the craft with the highest ratings to ensure the success of job.” A total of 20 APM craftspeople were selected for this assignment, divided into day and night crews containing one Superintendent and eight millwrights. The final two were delegated to an alternative scope.

Last summer, the LDC hosted a 3-week Kaizen event from June 6th to June 24th, 2022. Through this Kaizen, the Gas Power division achieved success in creating D11 valve stands and a table design prototype! They were able to borrow a valve from the GE Houston Learning Center in addition to the D11 from our APM LDC and utilized the LDC’s large shop as a space for everyone to set up and collaborate.

APM Canada mobilized a small crew for setup on October 19th, 2022 and officially started the TransAlta Sarnia outage on October 28th until demobilization on November 30th. The job scope included an Alton 11N2-C Inspection with Gen Bearing Inspections. Even with a grand total of 7,627 manhours, APM Canada completed the job ahead of schedule with zero safety or quality incidents!

In LaPlace, Louisiana on February 28th, 2022, APM Steam Fossil began the Entergy Little Gypsy Outage. To prepare for the job scope of a High Pressure (HP) major inspection and a boiler feed turbine major inspection, there were pre-job discussions, online training, and several conference calls with superintendents, GE representatives, and craft professionals. By the time the job concluded on July 28th, there was a grand total of 27,100 manhours worked and ZERO safety incidents. Wow!

APM Boiler Canada Delivers Excellence to New Customer in Short Notice

During the Spring Outage Season, the APM Boiler Canada team deployed in Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Québec, Canada, at Nordic Kraft Pulp and Paper Mill, responding to two failing smelt spouts. Smelt spouts are extremely critical to the chemical recovery process of the pulp and paper mill industry. Restoring the functions of this critical equipment as soon as possible was vital to our new customer.
