In late August, Wes Story (APM Gas Superintendent) and I had the privilege to engage in a Shingijitsu kaizen event at the FieldCore Atlanta Tool Center. (A Shingijutsu kaizen is a continuous improvement event spearheaded by a specially trained teacher called Sensei, with multiple kaizens occurring in parallel.) We spent a week with the other GE Vernova One Field Service leaders and the Tool Center technicians, observing them inventory kits, helping them identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve the tool kit inventory process …

Get the Buzz ... APM Boiler Delivers a Giant Success for a Large-scale Outage!

We take pride at APM in our ability to deliver safe, productive outages. APM Boiler, in conjunction with GE, did just that this Spring. We were asked to plan and execute a large-scale inspection and repair outage for TransAlta Centralia. This type of outage presented schedule and resource challenges as the scope is not clearly defined prior to the outage.

Get the Buzz ... APM Rigging Teams Up with Gas Power to Deliver Excellence

In early 2022, APM’s Rigging Team was informed of a distress call from a power station in Minooka, Illinois. The call noted that removal of a Generator Field could have been executed differently. The APM Rigging Team was called in to advise. “Before mobilizing, Boston Rigger, Kevin Melanson, traveled to the site of work to investigate and confirm that the scope could be achieved safely.”

APM Steam Fossil Maintains Excellent Service through Multi-Crew Outage at Woodland Pulp

In August of 2021, our Steam Fossil Team, led by Superintendents John Stalling, Dave Sturgis, Roger Jones, Dax Reed and Jared Kennard, was scheduled to mobilize for an outage at Woodland Pulp Mill in Baileyville, Maine. However, the team was called in sooner than expected to aid in the repair of a rotor causing damage to the mill.
