Reflections ... Integrity & Civility
We are in the midst of Fall Outage Season, near or at our peak. The peak creates challenges, as many of you are well aware and feeling at the moment.
The peak also creates opportunities to reach a lot of people who are engaged with APM. Thus this past week we have focused on Safety and key messaging regarding Life Saving Rules, great SWAT card usage, and thoughtful Mentorship.
This week we have key messaging regarding Integrity, and our focus is on Civility.
Simply stated, civility equals respect on the job.
As our brother’s keeper, we all look out for each other’s safety. Civility is the same thing—it’s about respect. It’s about treating our brother the way we want to be treated.
Let’s explore what that means in our daily work.
Civility means not cutting someone off. It’s about giving each other the space to speak and be heard.
It means lending a hand when a teammate is in a bind. A little help can go a long way.
It means treating everyone with dignity, from the new hand to the old pro.
This week, we invite you to share what civility means to you. Join our civility contest! Share 2-3 sentences or a photo showing what civility means to you.
Take some time to discuss with your crew:
What does civility look like on this crew?
What can we do better to show respect for each other?
Thanks for looking out for each other. That’s integrity. That’s respect. That’s civility. & When we have respect and civility, the job is safer and smoother.
Have a great week, and let’s make civility a part of our everyday work! Thank you.
