Meet APM Inventory Parts Specialist, Ronald Brown!

This month’s spotlight features APM Inventory Parts Specialist, Ronald Brown! Ron started as a union carpenter in Ohio. He then moved to Florida and joined the carpenter’s hall. A few days later, he was asked if he could work with the Millwrights for about a week. Ron’s been with APM ever since! That was in 2006, so he’s worked with APM for 19 years! At work, Ron is a Superintendent and trainer, but outside of work, he is a parent and grandparent. What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?

 

The vast opportunities available.

 

What is a typical workday for you?

 

Inventory, inspections, shipping, receiving, pulling reports and sale order numbers, etc…

 

What energizes you at work?

 

Accomplishing various tasks and solving problems.

 

What do you find the most challenging in your role?

 

Maintaining control of the daily chaos.

 

What do you like most about working with APM?

 

The emphasis on safety and quality.

 

How has APM helped you in your career development?

 

Providing the tools to be successful (training, conferences, etc…)

 

What courses, certifications, or programs did you complete?

 

Various safety classes, equipment training, and familiarization classes (Gas and Steam turbine).

 

What is your proudest moment with APM?

 

Recognized as a Craftsman of the Year award nominee.

 

 

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

 

Josh Silas – my first Foreman – Many others along the way.

 

How do you prefer to spend your days off?

 

Taking a slower pace and enjoying what life has to offer.

 

How do you balance your career at APM and family?

 

After working about 3000 hrs a year for several years – I started scheduling time off.

 

What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?

 

Always be a class act, hold yourself to a higher standard, and be accountable for your actions – every day is practice for the next – every outage is practice for the next – always do your best and take ownership.

 

What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?

 

Currently renovating my home.
