Meet APM Gas Superintendent, Chris Baptista!

This month’s spotlight features APM Gas Superintendent, Chris Baptista! Chris first joined the Millwrights Local 1000 out of welding school, and was later given the opportunity to work for APM. He began working for APM in 2017 as an apprentice, so he’s been with APM for a total of 7yrs! Outside of work, Chris is a loving husband. What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?

 

The safety culture from both leadership and craft personnel.

 

What energizes you at work?

 

Being able to teach others how to work safely and efficiently.

 

What do you like most about working with APM?

 

The safety and quality mindset from all leadership and the CEO.

 

How has APM helped you in your career development?

 

APM has provided me with the opportunity to continue my skills training and excel as a leader and mechanic.

 

What is your proudest moment with APM?

 

Being nominated as APM Craftsperson of the year for 2023.

 

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

 

My old superintendent Juan Mejia.

 

How do you prefer to spend your days off?

 

Spending time with my wife and golfing.

 

How do you balance your career at APM and family?

 

Constant communication and spending as much time with family as I can when I’m home.

 

What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?

 

Take your time and accept criticism.
