What are some roles you have at work, and outside of work? (ex. Superintendent, parent, board member, etc.)
Being the go-to girl for any assistance anyone needs at APM has given me a chance to learn so much from helping others at all levels. It’s an amazing feeling to be in a role that not only allows for professional growth but also fosters meaningful connections and impactful contributions. Outside of work, I have the privilege of seeing my son navigate his journey of self-discovery, slowly shaping his identity in business and in relationships.
What is your official job title with APM?
Travel Event Specialist, US and Canada
What led you to this industry and how did you first learn about APM?
I worked as a Corporate Convention Sales Manager for the Hilton Hotels & Resorts, APM was one of my top accounts. When Covid happened, the travel industry came to a complete stop. I was approached by APM when a few positions opened, and knowing the culture and the people that worked for APM made it an easy YES!
When did you begin working with APM and how many years have you been working with APM?
Jan 2022, it’s been 3 years
What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?
I was surprised by the way everyone collaborates and ensures you feel heard. It creates a truly supportive environment.
What is a typical workday for you?
No day is ever typical, it’s like our Houston weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change.
What energizes you at work?
I am energized by taking on projects and finding effective ways to see them completed successfully.
What do you find the most challenging in your role?
Event cancellations can be a challenge. It’s okay though, it builds character… and I have lots of that, I’m sure you all know that!
How has APM helped you in your career development?
I’ve learned a different industry and now know the challenges of safety and how it’s vital to every person and for the company’s success.
What is your proudest moment with APM?
When offering site tours of our facilities, it’s incredibly rewarding to see clients in awe of the space and how they are impressed by the thoughtful attention to every detail.
Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?
That’s easy, my Mother - she is the Keystone of our family and who we are.
How do you prefer to spend your days off?
I prefer to explore scenic parts of US that offers great hiking trails and hitting the slopes. It’s a great attitude adjustment for me (lol).
How do you balance your career at APM and family?
Balancing work and family can be challenging, especially around major events. I make it a priority to visit my parents and spend time with them whenever I can.
What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?
My advice to future APM candidates is to stay present and engaged throughout all programs you’re involved in. Embrace every opportunity to learn and connect. It’s a safe and structured environment.
What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?
I’m incredibly proud to be a mom. It’s been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life.
