What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?

The focus on job-site safety and the programs that have been implemented over the years.

What is a typical workday for you?

Morning or Afternoon turnover, Safety Talks based on work being performed that day. JSA review and discussion with the crew. Daily safety outage report filled throughout the day. Walking the turbine deck, focusing on the crafts jobsite safety, and resolving any issues that are of any safety concern.

What energizes you at work?

I would have to say anytime there is an opportunity explaining why we do a task a certain way to the craft. Helping them absorb the APM safety culture and helping expand and grow our APM safety division.

What do you find the most challenging in your role?

Taking a step back and just observing and not getting hands on helping the crew. As site safety, sometimes you have to step back and look at the bigger picture.

What do you like most about working with APM?

I would say the travel, meeting new customers, and meeting new Craft personnel.

How has APM helped you in your career development?

It has made me strive for improvement in areas that I was weak in. It has helped me be a more effective communicator and listener.

What courses, certifications, or programs did you complete?

Journeyman millwright, a Associates Degree, KeyMan training along with SME and then Safety Champion training.

What is your proudest moment with APM?

I would say being recognized for Safety Awareness and my role as a Safety Champion.

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

Multiple superintendents along the way have helped me along with GE field engineers also. Barry Burroughs, Jamie Ratliff, Dustin Kisner and Jared Kennard to name a few.

How do you prefer to spend your days off?

With my family relaxing or traveling.

How do you balance your career at APM and family?

When we do get time off, it is quality time that is uninterrupted and usually in the summer.

What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?

Listen and be a sponge, take in as much knowledge as you can. An honest day’s pay for a honest day’s work.

What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?

I’m always a proud dad and love all my kids.
