APM Steam Delivers Five-Star Maintenance for International Paper to Meet Outage Needs
In July, APM Steam reported to International Paper's Ticonderoga Mill site to perform a generator field swap. Our APM Steam team consisted of nine APM Millwrights and three Certified Mechanics per shift at the site.
Superintendents Chris Bacon and Fred Hitchcock have both responded to outages at the mill for nearly three years as they are repeatedly requested by International Paper. Their familiarity with the site served as an advantage to being highly knowledgeable with the equipment and maintenance processes.
APM's skilled team provided technical direction, leadership, and quality oversight to manage safety in maintenance, and emphasized this focus when pulling chain falls and working with the micrometer tooling. All obstacles identified prior to the outage were mitigated swiftly to result in an efficiently executed outage completed within schedule.
APM Steam's outage was rated at a five by the customer, reporting extreme satisfaction with the masterful maintenance work scope completed at their site with no further suggestions on improvement. The customer also reported they are looking forward to their annual outage that is in line for next year.

APM teams drive continuous improvement initiatives to regularly reach excellence. According to APM Steam Fossil Operations Division leader James "Brett" Kennard, a great strategy to retain safety and quality excellence is to continue building strong relationships with local craft labor to source crews that are familiar with APM’s goals and standard of excellence as well as sites.
