Leadership Reflections – Want to make something better? Kaizen!

Reflections … Want to make something better? Kaizen!

Last week was a busy week making GE Vernova & APM better! We had 20+ APM folks join 5 kaizens in 3 locations. Please see this video link with my reflections along with the attached summary of 1FS kaizen week.

First, a big THANK YOU to those who joined the kaizens. I heard great feedback. You made an impression!

Three highlights for me:

1. The APM LDC shined! We hosted three kaizens at the LDC (+ New Superintendent Training). That’s ~100 people on campus for the week. The energy was high!

“Thanks for hosting us; the LDC team did an awesome job.”

2. Field Focus!  Standardizing scope improvements to shroud drilling & bucket replacement and sequencing. Standardizing communication and messaging practices to and in the field. The priority was Safety & Quality. All kaizens measured the ## of safety and quality improvements made or focused on.

One kaizen even standardized an increase in scope duration to better control quality FME risks. Wow! That’s getting the SQDC order right!

3. Doubters to Believers: Some walked into their kaizens wondering if the week would make a difference. I am confident all walked out of their kaizens believing they will make a difference.

“It brings great pride to me to know that I was part of something that is going to be a standard across North America and possibly the globe!”

I too am proud! of what we did last week.

Finally, if you want to make something better or if you want to be a part of a future kaizen – Raise Your Hand! Share it with your leader and we will make it happen.
