Reflections | Strong First Half & Customer Experience

I am proud of the work we delivered in the first half of 2026. A few reflections on our performance and focus:

  • We delivered strong Safety & Quality — injuries and events/escapes are down, while engagement in proactive behaviors continues to improve.

  • There are challenges with on-time outage delivery, including many factors outside our control – delivering on what we do control will make a difference. Outage cost performance is improving, yet more work remains.

  • We faced early financial headwinds, primarily from our mix of work, that are beginning to improve as the year progresses.

  • We are building strong momentum in Lean & Innovation, particularly through our Standard Work Continuous Improvement and AI / Automation initiatives.

  • In the Gas market, we are sharply focused on Competitiveness and improving our Cost Performance playbook.

  • In the Steam market, we have embraced Daily Management and are building a Best Practices playbook to roll out this fall.

What excites me most, though, is the Customer Experience (CX) we are delivering. We have received many 5-star scores and strong commentary.

My top CX takeaways, along with a few favorite quotes:

Safety and Quality Foundations: The most consistent theme is our unwavering focus on safety and quality excellence — the baseline expectations our customers count on.

“Safe and quality work performed in a very efficient fashion... Great attention to safety. Quality was top-notch with keeping schedule in mind.”

Operational Excellence: Customers define success by how efficiently we execute — staying on schedule, communicating clearly, and maintaining organized, hazard-free workspaces.

“Everything went smoothly, and all lessons learned from the first outage were taken into account.”

The Partnership Mindset: Customers increasingly see us as a proactive partner. They value close collaboration and our ability to adapt as conditions change.

“The work was executed with strong collaboration, safety focus, and high quality standards.”

Desire for Continuity: One of the strongest signals of success is how often customers ask for the same crew to return. That reflects the trust they place in our people, expertise, and performance.

“I definitely would love to have this very crew on every job that I have from now on.”

The Human Element: Technical capability is expected. What differentiates APM is responsiveness, professionalism, and the ease of working with our Superintendents and crews.

“The management and crews on the job were great to work with... the quality of workmanship was much appreciated.”

A final thought … Customer feedback is always a gift.

Sometimes it highlights where we need to improve:

“Be transparent with the challenges that will be occurring for our outages. We can overcome any challenge as long as we know about it.”

Sometimes it reminds us what to protect:

“Maintain the competitive pricing and customer focus. Large corporations tend to forget these principles and drive customers away.”

And sometimes it gives us a blueprint for continued success:

  • No safety incidents

  • Outage completed ahead of schedule

  • Successful first-time use of Live Outage

  • Effective supervision and project management

  • Quality workmanship and strong collaboration

  • Excellent technical support

  • Adaptive for other work activities

  • Clear verbal and written communication

  • Lean & clean work areas that reduced hazards

A final quote …

“I am very pleased with the performance and collaboration demonstrated by both the management and craft teams throughout this outage... This strong execution reflects a well-aligned organization with a shared focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.”

“I feel the GE Vernova/APM team are innovative leaders in their field... They bring a strong collaborative approach... helping organizations reduce risk, optimize maintenance, and maximize lifecycle value.”

“I feel GE Vernova/APM acts more like a proactive partner than a vendor... continue helping us reduce downtime, improve planning, improve lead times and availability of critical spares, and make better decisions with reliable data and responsive support.”

Thank you all for delivering a strong first half. Hopefully you have enjoyed time to Rest, Reflect, & Refocus (or soon will). That’s important to keep the momentum for a strong second half.
