Reflections... Rest, Reflect, Refocus

Coming off a demanding spring outage season, I want to recognize your effort and commitment to deliver a strong first half for our customers and shareholder. Now its time to prioritize Rest, Reflection, and Refocusing.

Rest: As a leadership team, we recognize that sustainable performance includes adequate recovery. We strongly encourage prioritizing restorative rest. Science proves rest is crucial for productivity; it's far more than physical downtime. Adequate rest – including sufficient sleep, strategic breaks, and active unwinding – enhances cognitive function, creativity, and overall output. It improves problem-solving, memory, decision-making, and emotional resilience, while reducing stress and burnout.

To put this science into practice, I encourage you to:

  • Prioritize quality sleep: Ensure consistent, sufficient rest.

  • Schedule intentional breaks: Disengage regularly throughout your day.

  • Actively unwind: Engage in physical activity, reconnect, or pursue hobbies that truly recharge you.

  • Mindfully fuel your body: Make healthy choices and prepare for successful days ahead.

Reflect: Beyond rest, this period offers an important opportunity for structured reflection. Take time to consider your spring experiences: 'What went well? What went wrong? What would I do differently? What mattered most?' This debriefing, personal and organizational, strengthens us.

In this spirit, our upcoming Employee Experience Survey launches in early August. This is an important opportunity for collective reflection. Your voice matters! Your feedback directly informs how we shape our culture and strategy. We look forward to hearing your insights.

Refocus: As we look ahead to the second half of the year, it’s also a time to refocus and turn learnings into action. As summer advances, we are hosting trainings, workouts, and kaizens, and engaging in customer, shareholder, and industry led initiatives that support continuous improvement.  The rest and reflection we take now will help us show up sharper and more energized. Let’s carry forward what we’ve learned to finish the year strong.

To all of you, Thank YOU! for everything you do. Rest well, reflect deeply, and refocus for a strong fall and second half.

 Remember…

"Rest is the sweet sauce of labor." -Plutarch
