Employee Spotlight – Meet APM Renewables/Aero/O&G Superintendent, Travis DeVowe!

This month’s #EmployeeSpotlight features APM Renewables/Aero/O&G  Superintendent, Travis DeVowe! Travis heard about the Millwright life from his uncle and has been on APM jobs since 2013. Throughout the years, he has earned many accomplishments; most notably being nominated as 2025 Craftsperson of the Year and subsequently becoming an APM Superintendent in January. What are some roles you have at work, and outside of work? (ex. Superintendent, parent, board member, etc.)

I’m a superintendent at work and a stepparent at home. We have a small farm with 10 horses and a mix of other animals that I get to help care for.

 

What led you to this industry and how did you first learn about APM?

I have an uncle that is an Ironworker and helped me get into the Millwrights. I heard of APM throughout the years as a Millwright.

 

When did you begin working with APM and how many years have you been working with APM?

I began working with APM in 2013 and have been working with them on and off since.

 

What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?

I was most surprised by the amount of work APM has available worldwide.

 

What is a typical workday for you?

A typical workday can include a variety of tasks. For example, we have morning meetings, assign tasks to the crew, check SWAT cards, etc.

 

What energizes you at work?

Having a great work environment energizes me the most.

 

What do you find the most challenging in your role?

The tedious process of logging all parts during disassembly is what I find challenging.

 

What do you like most about working with APM?

I enjoy the stability of working for APM.

 

How has APM helped you in your career development?

APM has helped develop my career by offering opportunities to gain the experience needed to become a superintendent.

 

What courses, certifications, or programs did you complete?

Some of the courses and certifications I’ve completed: forklift, rigging, SME, John Crane, and Superintendent training.

 

What is your proudest moment with APM?

My proudest moment with APM is being awarded the craft person of the year in 2025.

 

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

The person who has influenced me the most for my work ethic is my dad.

 

How do you prefer to spend your days off?

I spend my days off at home getting up early, cooking breakfast, then heading to the barn to enjoy all the animals and any upkeep that needs to be done. If I get lucky and I’m home during hunting season, hopefully I find myself in the woods.

 

How do you balance your career at APM and family?

I balance my work and family life with a good support system and the hobbies I enjoy in my time off.

 

What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?

Hard work pays off!

 

What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?

Having a wonderful family at home is what I am most proud of.
