Get the Buzz... APM Gas Power Wins in New Jersey!
In April of this year, APM Gas Power traveled to Keasbey, New Jersey for an emergent outage. Led by Superintendent, Robert Serella, the crew consisted of two Certified Apprentices, three Local Journeyman, one Certified Mechanic, and one Subject Matter Expert. Their scope included two Borescope Inspections, steam turbine diaphragm work, lift hoses, and L-0 work.
Preparation for the job was thorough from crew selection to execution. Operations Division Leader, Saul Procter, had this to say on the process, “Much time was spent collaborating with the local Business agent and Superintendent to get the crew setup and to be successful. We were also dealing with the Service and Outage Managers so we can execute and have the right teams on the job”.
Saul also noted the advantage of the “blended crew”, sharing that people from vast backgrounds came together to conduct the job with safety and quality at the forefront of the operation. Several stakeholders around the outage also noted this team for their questioning attitude as well as their ability to collaborate to conquer any task. Shout out to the crew for their dedication to detail!
Several Life Saving Rules were noted by Robert Serella as being critical for outage success. He shares that Work at Height was reviewed on a daily basis because the crew worked around holes over 4 feet from ground-level around the turbines. Work Authorization and Energy Isolation also served as recurring safety reminders throughout the job.
We are immensely proud of the team for their success at onsite. Totaling at 578 manhours, the job was completed with ZERO safety or quality issues! Huge congrats and kudos to Robert Serella, Robert Coulombe, Zackary Erskine, Braden Tarr, Gary Clark, and Local 715 for your victory in New Jersey!
