What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?

APM’s family-like atmosphere surprised me.

What is a typical workday for you?

I generally get to work early, working 12-hour shifts, starting with getting to know what’s going on with the crew, turnover, and safety meetings. I like to cook, so I usually feed my guys at lunch. I have meetings and phone calls throughout the day, and I am always getting ready for the next one.

What energizes you at work?

The small steady successes that occur for my crew when progress is happening on machines, and problem-solving any obstacles that come up energize me throughout the day.

What do you like most about working with APM?

I like the feeling of belonging, and having feedback taken seriously. I do not just feel like a number with APM.

How has APM helped you in your career development?

APM has offered multiple career development courses, especially safety and leadership courses that I have taken. Knowing my career advancement path has helped me focus on what I need to advance.

What is your proudest moment with APM?

Being named Superintendent of the Year with the Aero division and being nominated for the presidential award have been my proudest moments with APM.

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

My four children have influenced me the most, because of their differences, I’ve learned not everyone sees or understands the same ways and that has helped me push my crews in better ways.

How do you prefer to spend your days off?

I love being out in nature, so I like to spend my days off fishing, hiking, and hunting.

How do you balance your career at APM and family?

Its not easy at times, we opted to put our kids in homeschool and have them travel with us.

What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?

Bring your best work ethic, be reliable and practice integrity. Those 3 things will create a steady path for you in APM.

What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?

My 4 amazing kids.
