APM Steam Services Excels in Safety and Productivity for Our Customer

Excellence is the unlimited ability to improve the quality of what you have to offer.” ―Rick Pitino

APM Steam Services U.S. successfully completed two outages in sequence and ahead of schedule during the 2020 Spring outage season. Both projects were critical components within a total of five LP steam path replacements listed for the customer.

Powered by teamwork

The 114-strong Steam Services teams consisted of APM Millwrights, Operating Engineers and Superintendents. These teams racked in over 100,000 manhours during both outages combined. Day and night shift Superintendents from the Oconee team, Terry Jennings, Jonathan Davis, James Jennings, Earl Smith, Chris Pace, Juan Ramirez; and the Catawba team, Greg Gibbs, Stephen Kotter, Kevin Gray, Anthony “Ace” Reed, Michael Wells, and Adam Ringling, delegated their leadership to ensure achievement of key project goals.

Integration of all supportive teams on site delivered productivity initiatives such as, optimized steam seal piping modifications to eliminate numerous critical path welds, and joint mounted gantry cranes which allowed four cranes to operate simultaneously.

Significant corrective design and service actions put in place during Fall 2019 continue to run well with no repeated adjustments needed.

Safety Strengths

The use of diaphragm storage racks and bearing tables to minimize part movement contributed to an increased level of safety for all functioning teams at the site. Our APM crews did an awesome job in following protocols to remain safe and healthy.
