Meet APM Steam Fossil Safety Champion, John Luther!

This month’s spotlight features APM Steam Fossil Safety Champion, John Luther! John began working with APM in 2014. He was introduced and given the opportunity to be apart of the APM family by Jared Kennard. Currently, he performs the role of Safety Champion, SME, and CM. Outside of work, John is a husband and a father to two beautiful children. We are so excited to spotlight John! What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?

One thing that surprised me working with APM is how much they care about their employees and the safety of their employees.

What energizes you at work?

What energizes me at work is doing a good job and making sure that we return home at the end of the work day.

What do you like most about working with APM?

What I like most about working with APM is that they do actually care about us and our safety.

How has APM helped you in your career development?

Gaining more knowledge to succeed and move up in my career.

What courses, certifications, or programs did you complete?

Anything offered and required of me I have completed.

What is your proudest moment with APM?

My proudest moment with APM is my progression from a journeyman, to a certified mechanic, to a SME and finally to a Safety Champion.

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

Jared Kennard has influenced me the most on how I approach my job.

How do you prefer to spend your days off?

When I’m not out of town for work, I prefer to spend my days off with my wife and kids attending sporting events, hiking, and fishing. Family is everything.

How do you balance your career at APM and family?

Finding balance between my career and my family wasn’t easy in the beginning. Thankfully, I have a wife and children that understand my job. We make it work and that makes my time home with them more cherished. FaceTime, phone calls and lots of pictures helps tremendously.

What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?

My advice for upcoming candidates is to keep your head down, work hard, listen, and take everything in.

What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?

A non work related accomplishment that I’m proud of is my two children. To see them growing up to be the amazing kids they are will always be my greatest accomplishment.
