APM Gas Power Services Delivers Safe Lifting to Southern Customer

APM Gas Power Services in the South, led by Superintendent Daryl Hale, recently conducted an impactful STOP Event in March. Located in Louisiana, the Team’s work scope entailed a major inspection as well as an AGP upgrade. Upon inspection of rotor slings prior to a major lift, it was identified that the mesh rotor slings sustained multiple tears in numerous areas and were not in prime condition to lift the 98-thousand-pound rotor.

Daryl Hale initiated several discussions among the site's engineer, project manager, and the Operations Division Leader. The decision was made to not use the slings and request an alternative instead. New rigging support from the customer’s union facility was delivered to utilize for a safe and successful rotor lift.

"When someone is in doubt we should stop and listen to what others have to say ... and to continually inspect every piece of rigging prior to each and every lift being made no matter how light or heavy a load can be," said Daryl Hale.

The customer complimented the decision to take that action, and stated APM's attention and ability to focus on these prominent details is the type of attitude they look for in a contractor. Daryl is proud of his team and commits to continue driving safety goals among his APM team and supportive teams on site.
