APM’s Boiler Team Answers Urgent Call-to-Action Despite Ida’s Setbacks

In September of 2021, the State of Louisiana was tarnished from the aftereffects of Hurricane Ida. With thousands of homes destroyed, constant power outages, and flooding unseen since Katrina, the swamplands of the Bayou State were in desperate need of recovery.

Shortly following this catastrophe, our APM Boiler Team, led by Superintendents, Tommy Tucker and Tommy Perque, was mobilized immediately in response to an emergent call. With minimal time to mobilize, the team was tasked with clearing storm debris and restoring the plant to power its neighboring areas. The crew spent the next month on this project, working over 1,000 manhours. As a result of the power outage, all hotels within a 100-mile radius of the plant were closed, which forced the crew to reside in trailers while onsite.

All tasks were completed with safety and quality in mind, and the job scope was delivered in just 33 days, one week ahead of schedule. After their efforts, the team immediately traveled for another outage. We extend a huge kudos to our Boiler crew, as well as all Boilermakers in Local 37, for their success!

Since the crew delivered fulfillment excellence, they qualified for a Level 3 prize from our Craft Incentive Program. A drawing was held onsite, and Aubin Dupre (shown on the right) was randomly selected as the winner of a brand-new Orca Cooler.
