APM Achieves TAUC's 2021 Thomas J. Reynolds Safety Awards!

We are incredibly proud to share that multiple APM divisions have been recognized by The Association of Union Constructors (“TAUC”) for their dedication towards safety during the working year of 2020. This year’s achievement leaves a deeper impression due to the elevated challenge in remaining safe and healthy while simultaneously navigating COVID-19 protocols at customer sites.

Established in 1983, the Thomas J. Reynolds Award for Excellence in Construction Safety and Health was named in honor of Thomas J. Reynolds. The U.S. Navy veteran held many high-level safety positions and was eventually appointed as a long-serving member of TAUC’s previous organization, the National Erectors Association. Reynolds assisted in writing proposed construction safety standards for OSHA in 1980 and is identified as a peak figure in advancing worker safety everywhere.

TAUC’s Thomas J. Reynolds Award recognizes member contractors who achieve a Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) rate of 25% or more below the national industry average rate within a calendar year. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the DART rate averaged to 2.5% for the entire year of 2020.

APM was recognized for achieving a DART rate below the national industry in 2020. Our APM Boiler division took home the greatest achievement for reaching 100,000 - 499,999 manhours completed without a single DART case recorded. In addition to this, our Boiler division has consistently hit this safety goal four years in a row, starting in 2017. Wow!

A good Safety Task Analysis meeting, utilizing STOP authority, 20-20-20, and Human Operational Performance training were among the many key strategies involved when engaging employees and implementing proactive safety behaviors.

Directly advocating for the greatest level of safety for one another is shown in adhering to safety standards and pushing for improvements. This powerful level of cooperation can go a long way in making any APM jobsite the best place to work!

Congratulations to our APM teams in maintaining a positive safety and health culture that is repeatedly recognized by partners in our industry!
