APM Boiler U.S. Superintendent, Byron Davis, Receives Entergy Safety Award!

The Boiler U.S. team reported to Entergy’s Roy S. Nelson Plant located in Westlake, Louisiana, to perform maintenance on a pulverizer component. Throughout the outage, employees were asked to participate in the site’s Safety Observation Program that encourages site teams to share written insights regarding various observations and safety topics for the customer.

Superintendent Byron Davis focused on the beneficial impacts of the program and submitted over 50 written responses during the outage. These notes detailed site observations, coaching opportunities, and safety concerns.

Our focus was to build a stronger safety culture, by empowering the craft to take ownership of safety,” commented Superintendent, Byron Davis.

Byron, along with Superintendent Chris Varnado, assumed a proactive approach, allowing for site management crews to intervene and mitigate potentially hazardous conditions. His influential efforts in safety leadership cultivated strength in safety focus by his crews. The dedication brought special recognition from Entergy to his team that resulted in Byron’s award.

The real reward is when others speak up and intervene, when they observe hazards, close calls, good catches, or recognize good safety behaviors, no one learns if you keep it to yourself,” added Byron.

Congratulations to Superintendent Byron Davis and the Boiler U.S. team on a job well done at Entergy!
