Leadership Reflections... THINK with Katie Maldonado
This month we talked about integrity across the OFS business. That includes the spirit – doing the right thing; and the letter – doing things the right way. Below are some additional thoughts on Integrity and THINK from our Communications Director, Katie Maldonado.
Maintaining integrity is not only about things we refrain from doing – it’s also about what we do with intention. In the spirit of “doing” – I encourage you to consider and engage in THINK. Below is a short video summarizing my thoughts on the THINK acronym.
THINK is not just about what you don’t say – it’s also about what you choose to say with intention. I encourage you to consider using “I” instead of “You/You All/Y’all” in your speech, especially when sharing your perspective. This can begin as …
• “I think that … because I have seen …”
• “I feel that … because I experienced …”
• “I believe that … because I reviewed …”
• “My experience suggests …”
• “The information I have looked at demonstrates …”
Starting with “I” empowers you to take ownership of what you are sharing and keeps your dialogue from coming across as an accusation or projection. I feel confident this will help us open our conversations for diverse perspectives without tension and animosity. We work best, learn best, and grow best when we do it together. Every person has a valuable perspective to offer that has the potential to make all of us greater.
Thank you for your integrity, inclusivity, and personal leadership.
