Employee Spotlight – Meet APM Steam Nuclear Superintendent, Jeff Henderson!
The final spotlight for the month of July features APM Steam Nuclear Superintendent, Jeff Henderson! Jeff began his career as a Millwright in 1995 and has been with APM for almost 20 years. He has found much success in his tenure and was nominated as Superintendent of the Year for the Steam Nuclear division in 2022! What are some roles you have at work, and outside of work? (ex. Superintendent, parent, board member, etc.)
· Superintendent, Subject Matter Expert, Certified Mechanic

What led you to this industry and how did you first learn about APM?
The union hall called me to work EH Hines as a Millwright and from there I continued to move on with APM to reach my current position.
When did you begin working with APM and how many years have you been working with APM?
I began working with EH Hines in 1995 and have been with APM since the two companies conjoined in 2005.
What’s one thing that surprised you about working with APM?
I was surprised at the safety culture. The volume of advancement and travel opportunities that are readily available to employees is also appealing.
What is a typical workday for you?
Every day is different depending on the jobsite and work that needs to be completed for each particular shift. It is necessary to create a new plan of action on a daily basis to reach completion goals of the current project. It is also critical to brief the crew on how to safely complete their work.
What energizes you at work?
It always brings a sense of satisfaction to see what has been accomplished and encourages me to work diligently to meet the work schedule for job completion. I enjoy working with my crews to show them how complete their work safely.
What do you find the most challenging in your role?
It is sometimes challenging to find the right craftspeople needed for each job and ensure they’re prioritizing safety.
What do you like most about working with APM?
I like the flexibility of my work schedule which provides me with time to spend with my family. I also enjoy the travel experience and meeting new people in the various places I’ve worked.

APM offers many opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

What is your proudest moment with APM?
I was humbled to be nominated as Superintendent of the Year for the Steam Nuclear Division.
Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?
My Dad has always taught me the importance of learning new skills and working hard for advancement opportunities.
How do you prefer to spend your days off?
I enjoy camping with my family, catching up on my “honey do” list around the house, and preparing for future work projects.
How do you balance your career at APM and family?
Being on the road has made it necessary to make the most out of being home with my family and enjoying our time together.
What advice do you have for prospective APM candidates?
Work hard and keep your head in the game. It is necessary to be flexible and maintain the safety culture of APM.
What is a non-work-related accomplishment that you’re proud of?
I am proud of my family and the home I have made for them. I’m also proud of the relationships I have made with my crew outside of work.
