Leadership Reflections... Looking forward to the Safety & Quality Reset

We are excited to see many of you next week for the Safety & Quality Reset Event. Below is a special note from Bryan Williams and Scott Ranaldi, our Safety & Quality Directors, to help you prepare for next week.

A note from Bryan:

Are you ready to reset and recalibrate to reduce safety & quality events?

Are you ready to execute outage excellence on your fall projects?

Are you ready to move towards and achieve world class performance?

I hope the answer to the questions above are all YES!

WHY? Because this event is dedicated to YOU, our field leaders. It is an event that is totally focused on ways to improve safety and quality.

We have prepared an event that includes special guest speakers, activities, and take away materials that will help you execute world class projects and ensure future work for our APM Teams! There will also be opportunity to network with your peers and leaders.

As a preview to prepare you, we will be covering topics that include:

  • What How, What How: A process to help you recognize hazards and implement effective controls.

  • Putting People to Work: (P2W) – A process to ensure that everything needed for a project is accounted for and available for use.

  • Non-standard Work: A process to follow when you are faced with a task that is not specifically covered in a field procedure or work instructions.

  • Mentorship: Proper work group employees that align 1st & 2nd year apprentices or craft with less than 800 hours with an experienced craft person to position the work group for success.

See you next week as we reset, refocus, and reenergize as One APM!

A note from Scott:

It has been a long time since we have all had a chance to come together for an event. Some of you have not been to a summer APM Superintendent event before and others have been to more than a few. This event will be different than any before.

We will be focusing on two key elements for the successful completion of an outage: Safety and Quality. The Quality focus will be centered on only two areas that we need help to improve on. The containment of leaks and loss of FME control. We will cover the basic processes of containment that are already in place. This will help us reset our behaviors across all regions to understand the importance of using standard work practices to develop sustainable improvements. We will also provide you with information on locating quality documentation to help you and your teams meet quality expectations on sites.

Our format is completely new for this event. We will be working in smaller groups on each day to allow us to collaborate as a team to understand your field experiences can help us with developing sustainable standard work processes. It will be good to get back together again!

I echo their enthusiasm, and I look forward to spending a week together focused on the most important topics for our business – Safety and Quality execution. Travel safe and see you next week.

- Jake
