CEO Reflections... Celebrations

APM Team,

Last night, after a 6 month delay due to COVID, we finally were able to celebrate our Superintendents and Craftpersons of the year.

This is one of the highlights of the year for me. It is great to hear about the amazing work our field leaders do in the field. Its even better to see them face to face, learn more about them and their families and their communities.

Allow me to share some brief reflections from last night.

Our field leaders are making a difference. We celebrated Superintendents and Craftpersons who were engaged in significant jobs and projects for us: developing as project superintendents and safety champions, working on naval ships to maintain naval readiness, designing and executing live outage, expanding our nuclear capability in Canada. Beyond this, each of them were recognized for being safety and quality leaders whose culture impacted their teammates. They make a difference on a big scale and on the day-to-day.

Our field leaders and their families make sacrifices. I think we all appreciate that our Superintendents and Craftpersons work on the road, away from families, but we don’t really understand that sacrifice completely. One Superintendent had endured five 14 day quarantines to work overseas; another Superintendent had spent 192 straight days away from his family. All had worked on a holiday, said “Happy Birthday” over a facetime, and watched multiple ball games on the internet.

This means a lot to our field leaders. Superintendents and Craftpersons wearing a coat (and a tie!), their wives in dresses and heels. Traveling long miles to attend a dinner in Houston, TX in the summer (and the ones who didn’t sacrificed this night to keep working on a job). I heard field leaders talk about the place in their home they had set aside for the award. I saw wives with tears in their eyes proudly taking pictures with their husbands. Working for APM means something to our teammates and their families. May we always keep that spirit.

While we honored our field leaders last night, for me personally, last night was my honor and privilege. It’s a gift to spend time with each of you, for I walk away inspired to live our purpose – We empower the people (YOU) who power life.

Thank you to all our field leaders.
