APM Steam Fossil Delivers Five-Star Service Ahead of Schedule at Evergy Iatan Generating Station
Deployed in early November to Missouri for a forced outage, our APM team completed an investigation on a generator bearing that was experiencing high vibration. The team disassembled the generator and supporting components to investigate T-10 bearing and corrected the generator and exciter alignment.
Strategies arranged by the APM Operations Division Leaders were adopted by APM Superintendents, Larry Johnson, Mike Motley, and Brent Stieferman, who is currently in training. With two APM crews and six Millwrights on site, our adept team shaved four days off the anticipated outage schedule and completed the project within a span of four days with 100% safety and quality excellence.
The seasoned APM crews were familiar with the site as they regularly provide annual maintenance. Continuously returning to the site allowed our team to create a great relationship with the customer over the years. The crews carried out excellent craftmanship and collaborated with seamless communication to remain on the same page during each task. The team also shared their extensive knowledge with a new APM crewmember to help strengthen their confidence in craft and site familiarity.
Superintendent, Larry Johnson, praised his team for coaching others, taking pride in their work, and embracing the APM culture, “I would like to thank all my crew members for making this job a great success because without them I could not be successful.”
In a recent survey from our customer, APM Steam Fossil received a five-star rating in overall satisfaction. “The team that came out was very good at explaining ... They made it easy to understand and pass along information to the plant. The turbine group was very professional and answered all the questions that we had,” commented a customer representative.
Congratulations to APM Steam Fossil on accomplishing another highly rated outage with 100% safety and quality delivery for our returning customer!
