Reflections... Employee Experience Survey Results

APM Team,

Below is a quick video to say THANK YOU for your feedback on our Employee Experience Survey.

Earlier this summer we launched our first ever employee experience survey. The goal for this process was to better understand what YOU value – where we deliver strongly on your expectations and where we could improve the experience you have in a meaningful way.

We were excited to see the level of engagement in this initial pulse. We had 64% engagement across the field and corporate audience, translating to 327 out of 512 employees who were invited to provide valuable insight. At first glance, this may not seem favorable, but our external benchmark for similar surveys averages between 50-60% for engagement. Thus, we are grateful so many of you chose to take part in providing feedback through this voluntary process, especially during summer months between vacation and training travel.

Overall, our core question of “APM has the right culture for us to be successful in the future” produced a positive response rate of 76% in agreement. This beats out the industry benchmark at 71% for this question across similar companies in our geographic location (North America).

Additionally, our safety question of “APM is a very safe place to work” produced a positive response rate of 89% in agreement. This is a particularly important topic for our organization as our keystone, and we are proud it received the most favorable response among all survey questions.

With a mix of pride, gratitude, and humility, we were excited to read comments such as this one:

“APM is without a doubt the safest company in the world. We are held to the highest standards but in general common sense can prevail and allow us to adjust when the process does not "fit". This adjustment though is always done transparently and with consultation to ensure we are not compromising. I cannot say enough about the safety culture of this company.” - anonymous

Key themes show through the data with strengths and improvement opportunities. Relative strengths include job resources, wellbeing, and learning culture. Relative opportunities for improvement include work/life balance, transparency, and timely decision-making.

Over the next few weeks, we will dive deeper into the data, and specifically the commentary provided in the survey, to understand what actions we can take to leverage our strengths and improve on our opportunities. We will publish a plan with defined action steps for the organization to take in over the next 6 months, and we will follow up on progress prior to our next pulse.

Thank you again for your candid feedback. Your voice is valuable and helps us establish APM as the choice employer in our industry. We plan to re-pulse the organization in 6 months to determine how well we have leveraged this data to sustain and improve your experience at APM.
