APM Knocks Out 9 Wins Across Steam Turbine Rotors at the LDC
APM, FieldCore, and GE assembled as a One GE Field Service Solution to deliver full maintenance work to nine steam turbine rotors at APM’s Leadership Development Center (“LDC”) for two customers located at three separate sites. This is the first time APM has completed maintenance service of this magnitude at their headquarters located in Pasadena, Texas. Our highly skilled APM Team of Superintendents, Millwrights, and Technicians, in collaboration with GE OSR Machinists, conducted an extensive work scope that consisted of bucket replacements, sandblasting, inspections, and machining & NDT testing across the group of steam turbine rotors over the course of four months while concentrating on safety as top priority.
With the high momentum of the Spring Outage Season, it was crucial to elevate all sites with major key planning strategies to heighten productivity and overall safety and quality execution. Approaching the work scope as ONE team kept all management, technicians, and craft harmonious when talking through valuable insights and suggestions to identify challenges and propose mitigation plans.
The One GE Service Solution group met virtually to initiate outage planning processes and activities in mid-February. There were many conversations to hammer out details of site preparation with proper setup of equipment, tooling, support, and the logistics needed to drive a favorable outcome at the LDC.
APM Superintendents raised safety awareness during the project by taking ownership of the shop area, leading safety meetings, and identifying any safety focus opportunities. Each Superintendent thoroughly explained hazards to ensure visiting customer representatives understood what restrictions were in place to maintain safety.
Our diligent APM Team was commended for their professionalism and cleanliness. Our APM Millwrights and Superintendents showed up with years of skill and experience. They kept all parts and pieces organized during maintenance, and deep cleaned the shop floors after all equipment was shipped out.
“They have been very professional, and know what they are doing ... I have been very impressed with the respect that the guys have had for this APM facility. They have always kept their workspaces clean,” commented Customer Oversight Engineer Thomas Johnson.
Congratulations to our APM Team, FieldCore, and GE for delivering best-in-class maintenance work across NINE steam turbine rotors for our customers!
