APM Delivers Excellence and Care to Japanese Plant and Local Beach

It is not uncommon for our craftspeople to travel across the globe to deliver their expertise and first-class customer service while meeting new people and making new friends in the duration of a project or job. These new connections can last a lifetime. In addition to completing a highly successful outage in Japan, many lasting friendships were created during the outage, and solidified while participating in a local community service beach clean-up event.

In December 2020, highly regarded APM Certified Mechanical Technician, James “Butch” Fancher, along with General Electric, and the modification project team, completed clamp and bracket modifications at a Nuclear Plant in Japan. The plant’s Spent Fuel Pool Coolant Piping brackets that hold the piping in place required major adjustments to meet Japan’s new seismic requirements. Modified clamps were successfully installed with an excellent level of safety and quality assurance.

The modification project team not only brought a high level of job execution excellence, but also extended their time and service to be a Good Neighbor at a local community event. Coordinated by the site management team, the crew spent two hours beautifying a beach located close to the plant. The crew consisted of several members, including Will Alford, Dave Bell, Ahdee Chan, John DiPietro, Gerry Henschel, Nate Hinson, Marty Kaylor, Rika Nagai, Gato Nakamura, Shuichi Nozawa, Ryan Pleasant, Narisawa-san, and Kanoh-san.

All team members were eager and excited to do the clean-up,” commented James “Butch” Fancher, who was also a member of the beach clean-up crew.

Members of the plant site support team were reportedly very happy that the event was a success! APM is proud to know and work alongside team members who find importance in lending helping hands on and off the field.

Thank you to all supportive teams on site for your excellent work and dedication to being a Good Neighbor!
