APM Boiler Canada Receives Tripartite Zero (Recordable) Injury Turnaround Award!
We are incredibly proud to announce APM Boiler Canada as this year's recipient of the Tripartite Zero (Recordable) Injury Turnaround Award! This award is determined by the General Presidents’ Maintenance Committee for Canada (GPMC), and the National Maintenance Council for Canada (NMC). This is the first time APM has received this recognition.
Typically, the program culminates with a grand banquet where top industry performers receive their awards. This year, an etched trophy will be sent to the Canada Boiler - Edmonton office to be displayed and serve as a reminder of the great achievement.
APM Boiler has been recognized for their diligence in health and safety during a turnaround at Genesee Station - Unit 1, for Capital Power, located about 60 miles west of Edmonton, Alberta. Approximately 300 APM craftspeople were involved in maintenance on the boiler, fans, auxiliary, and piping that began May 27th and ended June 27th of 2019.
The APM craftspeople team on site was comprised of many trades such as:
Boilermakers
Ironworkers
Laborers
Millwrights
Pipefitters
This robust Boiler team, led by Site Superintendent Mark Farrish, utilized Stop the Drop, CBS, STOP, and Eye and Hand Injury Prevention to emphasize accident avoidance. To get everybody involved with the safety culture, key influencers such as site supervision and EHS personnel, encouraged inspections, hazard hunts, safety meetings, tailboards, and close monitoring of the work and craftspeople.
Their brilliant team efforts led to a successful completion of 70,000 work hours with ZERO recordable injuries.
APM firmly continues persistence in EHS awareness and training to keep people first by holding their safety and well-being as the highest priority at every job site.
Congratulations to the supportive teams at Genesee Station - Unit 1, for contributing to the seamless job execution for Capital Power, and the acknowledgement gained from the Zero (Recordable) Injury Turnaround Award!
