APM Specialty Services Canada Recognized by TC Energy for Their Commitment to Safety
“Accountability is the glue that bonds commitment to results” – Will Craig
We are extremely proud of our APM Specialty Services Canada team and their contribution to the success of the Saddle West Expansion project. In collaboration with Baker Hughes, APM brought the culture of teamwork and a strong performance of safety to TC Energy in Alberta, Canada. All contractors participating in the project held a high sense of accountability. This drew recognition in being selected for the CEO Safety Leadership Awards in 2019 under the team category for their inspiring sense of mutual success, and powerful performance in safety.
The CEO Safety Leadership Awards allow the opportunity to recognize and honor individuals and teams for their outstanding contribution in leadership and their demonstration of safety as an essential value.
The Saddle West Expansion Project consisted of four sites that required the placement and alignment of a compressor and the prime mover, the LM2500, an aero derivative jet engine that needed careful preparation for its first fire.
APM provided their field service, electrical, and mechanical scopes to these four corners. Field Service Representatives – Dave Hateley, Walter Saint Germaine, Dana Winfield, and Tony Pillipow – provided their expertise in giving technical direction during the installation process of the jet engine and compressor.
Our APM Millwrights were deeply involved in groundwork of the units for first start up. The millwrights recognized for their immense commitment to safety and quality were Tanner Dunlop, Lance Mullen, Geoff Lepage, Tim Bell, and Dale Morgan.
Larry Lotocki, Jeff Hanna, and Shawn Boss-Moodie were among the electrical and instrumentation technicians who furnished the scope with control support and commissioning activities.
“As with any APM/BH job we work safely and take ownership allowing us to complete our tasks with the upmost quality and in a timely manner,” said Field Service Representative, Dana Winfield.
What does it mean to take ownership of safety practices?
According to APM Canada Service Manager, Craig Mosier, “It is creating a positive environment where people feel comfortable speaking up when they see an issue, having a conversation with everyone involved, then correctly reporting those issues so we learn as a group. We also provide constructive feedback and encourage our employees in the field to do the same. I think our biggest strength in our region is the fact we have a tight-knit group and we hold each other accountable from the director to the 1st year apprentice on their first job.”
Groups from various backgrounds and points of expertise united to create the perfect mix of teamwork, safety emphasis, and responsibility, which left a strong impression on site.
Congratulations to the awesome site teams involved, and all of the supportive functions that contributed to this recognition from TC Energy!
