Right Attitude, Right Team at KCP&L Iatan
It is often said that winning is an attitude. When you plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win, you have set yourself up for success. That is exactly what a team of APCom winners accomplished at Kansas City Power & Light, Iatan Station in Weston, Missouri. Their specific work scope was major pressure parts replacement and burner replacement. There were approximately 225 APCom employees at the job’s peak, made up of two shifts of Boilermakers, Pipefitters, Laborers, and Operating Engineers. The Day Shift Superintendents were Matt Potts and Mike Bush. The Night Shift Superintendents were Jeff Kerr and Kevin Lockhart. Day Shift Quality Lead was Marty Cochran and Night Shift Quality Lead was Alan Perdue. The Superintendent and Quality teams were supported by APCom Field Clerks, Sue Secrist and Allison Spivey. The team came in approximately 9% under the budgeted 110K total hours for this project. This didn’t happen without preparation, discipline, and focus. The removal of FSH S-39 Inlets and the S-40 outlets was accomplished 2 days ahead of schedule. The installation of 84 inlet and outlet FSH assemblies, and installation of 30 front and rear SHPP assemblies was orchestrated by this team with a winning attitude.
Congratulations to this entire team. We value your contributions and attitude to making this job, and your team a success.
