APM Fossil North Exemplifies Teamwork

Recently at an APM Fossil North jobsite at the Oak Creek Power Plant in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, the day and night shift crews showed a tremendous amount of camaraderie by coming together for the betterment of two of their teammates. The team pooled money together to buy two apprentices the tools of the trade so that they could begin their careers as millwrights. They gathered donations from the crews, which included the APM superintendents and GE Management that was on site. APM Day Superintendent, Ken Robertson, was very proud of the team’s kinship saying:

"I personally appreciate the support of all the craft that donated.  This is a mixed crew from many different states and Union Locals and this is a clear message of what it means to be a member of a brotherhood and sisterhood in our skilled trade unions. Also, (the effort) shows the family relationship (between) APM and GE.”

Not only did the team succeed on a personal level, but their work also shined through. The team received a great review and praise from the local building trade. Representative Shaun D. Coates highlights the teams’ excellent safety practices and their awesome attitude:

“Gentlemen,

I wanted to take a minute to report on the findings of our safety walk the other day. The Milwaukee Building Trades conducted a safety walk at the Oak Creek facility on Friday, March 18. The building trades were represented by me, 2 Operator Business Reps, a Laborer rep, an electrician rep, and a pipe fitter rep. The crew said the site looked fantastic. We did not find any safety concerns. In fact I had only heard reports of good findings.

Personally, I noticed as a whole the crew had a fantastic attitude. A good attitude and a safe environment is contagious and makes for a fun and productive site. I have been on the opposite of this too many times. Keep up the great work!”

It seems that productivity and a family culture come hand in hand when performing a job. Eric Sielaff, APM Fossil Services North Director, informs us that the job scope is a major inspection and generator rewind on a large fossil steam H12. The team is being led by APM Day Superintendent, Ken Robertson, and APM Night Superintendent, Tim Witt. This job truly proves that when a crew has a culture of family and teamwork, it really shines through to their quality of work.
