APM Pulse Walks in Houston

The APM Pulse Team joined together for the 2013 Houston Heart Walk against cardiovascular disease and stroke on Saturday, November 16th.  We are proud of our team for stepping up to show support for this important cause. The walk consisted of a 5k route around the Reliant Arena and Astrodome complex.  Sponsored by the American Heart Association, the affair was filled with as many educational opportunities as it was fun, with tents, health booths, live music and more. It was a great day to network with other local groups while learning about heart health, and although it was a misty day in Houston, there was no shortage of participants at the walk. Thousands of people showed up to support cardiac and stroke research. Houstonians from dozens of organizations and groups united to stomp out cardiovascular disease and stroke, and walked together for a healthier future. The APM Pulse Team raised a total of $900.00, alongside the larger GE Team, who raised $32,677.00. In total, the event raised $2,676,844.00 to fund research. The APM Pulse Team reported that it was an honor to walk alongside some of the survivors of these diseases. It was obvious how much it meant to those individuals to see the overwhelming support for their fight against illness. Several of our walkers participated in honor of friends or family members who’ve encountered heart or brain illnesses and several donations were made in loving memory of those who have lost the fight against these diseases. The survivors who made the walk were honored at the finish line with a special tunnel of people cheering them on. Whether the participants were walking for themselves, in honor of a loved one, or simply for the cause, the determination and pride could be seen in their faces as they crossed the finish line. Many personal victories were won that day. It was an event filled with big smiles and big hearts. We appreciate everyone that got involved! Go APM Pulse – You’ve got heart!
